Take Care of Your Wool Clothes – Simple and Smart

Taking care of wool clothes isn’t just about keeping them looking good – it also extends their lifespan, maintains comfort, and is better for the environment. Here’s why wool care matters:

Longevity

Wool is strong and durable but can lose shape and color if not cared for properly. With the right care, your wool garments stay nice and last longer.

Eco-Friendly

Wool is a natural, renewable material that biodegrades in nature. By taking care of your clothes, you reduce the need to buy new items and help the environment.

Comfort

Well-cared-for wool garments retain their warmth and breathability, so you can enjoy their comfort in any weather.

Investment

Wool garments are often more expensive because of their high quality. Caring for them ensures you get more value and use from your investment.

Looks and Feel

Well-maintained garments keep their color, shape, and softness – and look more luxurious.

Versatility

Wool works for both everyday wear and special occasions. When your garments are in good condition, you have more options to create stylish outfits.

Tradition and Craftsmanship

Wool garments often carry a sense of tradition and craftsmanship. Caring for them honors the heritage of wool production and the skill of those who make these products.

Circular Fashion

Repair, give away, sell, or recycle instead of throwing away. It’s a sustainable way to care for your clothes.

Remove Pilling

Small pills or fuzz are completely normal for natural fibers like wool, especially in areas exposed to friction, such as under arms or at the sides. This doesn’t mean the garment is damaged or low quality. Gently remove them by hand or use a wool comb.

Place the garment on a flat surface and carefully comb away unevenness and fluff for an even and fresh result.

Wash Sparingly

Wash wool as little as possible. If needed:

Hand wash or use a cold wool program in the washing machine

Use an eco-friendly wool detergent, e.g., OrganoTex BioCare Wool & Down Wash

  • Contains lanolin (natural wool fat)
  • Eucalyptus oil for scent and antibacterial properties
  • Biodegradable and largely bio-based

Protect During Washing

Wash in a laundry bag to reduce wear and fiber breakage.

The Guppyfriend washing bag captures microfibers that would otherwise end up in water and extends the life of your garments.
